Election filings in the Nov. 2025 municipal and school boards ended on Friday.
Forty-two candidates filed to run for seats on the Lexington, Thomaville, Denton, Midway and Wallburg city councils or town boards, as well as the Thomasville and Lexington City Boards of Education.
Lexington Mayor Jason Hayes will not face opposition. He is the only candidate filing for this office.
Filing for the city council are: Ward 1, Keith Curry; Ward 2, Jim Myers; Ward 3 Matt Welborn and Dylan R. Tucker; Ward 4: John Burke.
Thomasville incumbent Raleigh York will face to challengers. Current Councilman JacQuez Johnson has filed for mayor along with former councilwoman Wendy Sellars.
Filing Thomasville City Council are: Doug Hunt, Ericka Sanders, Ed Craddock, Adam Leisure, Richard Flippin, Tommy Bryant, Kareem J. Grant Sr., Joe Lambert, Dana Skeen Lomba, D. Hunter Thrift and Scott Styers.
Denton Mayor Larry Ward did not file for re-election to continue to be mayor, but did file to be a council member. Current Councilman Scott Morris and Stephen Davis have filed to become mayor of Denton.
Seeking seats on the town council are: Anne Carter Bean, Deanna Chandler Grubb and Larry Ward.
In Midway, Jackie Edwards, Keith A. Leonard and Robin Moon filed for the town council.
Allen Todd, the current mayor of Wallburg is the only candidate to file for the office. The town council saw two incumbent candidates file — Zane Hedgecock and Steve Yokeley.
Filing for seats on the Lexington City Board of Education are: At-large, Debra Verdell; Ward 4, Patricia Miller and Lisa Hathaway; Ward 5, Angela McDuffie; Ward 6, Cheryl Leverette-Lide and Lewie Phillips.
In Thomasville, school board candidates are: Tiffany Baluka-Brannon, Malcolm Richbourg, Ja’Quez D. Taylor, Michael Sinkler and L. Jeremiah McCauley.
