The field is now set as filing for the November 4 municipal elections came to a close today.
The races are as follows:
Enfield mayor
Incumbent W. Mondale Robinson is running against challenger Tony Silver
Enfield commissioner District A
Incumbent Bobby Whitaker is running against Bud A. Whitaker
Enfield commissioner District B
Newcomer Sarah Brinker is running unopposed
Town of Halifax commissioners
Incumbents Sheila Wood, William Johnson, and Patterson Wilson are running unopposed
Town of Hobgood mayor
Incumbent Dannie A. Flanary is running unopposed
Town of Hobgood commissioners
Incumbents Ron Elkins and Mary Ann Coley are running unopposed
Town of Littleton mayor
Incumbent Heidi Hogan is running unopposed
Town of Littleton commissioners
The two incumbents — Mattie Tyler and Clyde Johnston — did not file for re-election and no challengers filed.
The board of elections said this afternoon the open seats may be decided by the results of write-ins or through town board appointments.
City of Roanoke Rapids mayor
Incumbent Mayor Emery Doughtie will be challenged by Ephraim Brodsky and Gerald McDaniel
Roanoke Rapids City Council District 1
Curt Strickland is running unopposed for his seat
Roanoke Rapids City Council District 2
Incumbent Andy Jackson is being challenged by former Councilman Wayne Smith
Town of Scotland Neck mayor
Incumbent Mayor Eddie Braxton is being challenged by Leroy D. Powell and James E. Mills
Scotland Neck town commissioner
Incumbent Gloria Cofield filed to retain her seat while Curtis Jackson did not. Newcomers Marcus E. Morris, Kim Stallings, and Forrest Bradley have filed.
Town of Weldon mayor
Incumbent Hugh Credle is being challenged by current town Commissioner Jennifer Cox
Weldon town commissioner
Incumbents Doris Garner, Stephanie Tillery, and Muzette Fitts Kiger have refiled. Challengers Justin Moore, Carla Pat Ponton-Farrow, and Zenobia F. Cofield are challenging.
Roanoke Rapids Graded Schools Board of Education
Incumbents Steven L. Ellis, Cathy Hux Keeter, and Jeffrey Kloss have filed. Challengers Jim Whitmire and Carlton Ansley have filed.
Roanoke Rapids Sanitary District Board
Incumbents Jon Baker and James E. Kerr II filed and newcomer Anthony Moseley filed. Incumbent Colby Lyles is not seeking re-election.
