Stephens County Elections Supervisor Isaac Overstreet reports that the state mandated Risk Limiting Audit for elections with state or federal offices, was conducted on Thursday, July 24, 2025. The Georgia Secretary of State’s office randomly selects the ballot batches to be audited by the actual rolling of the dice which was done on Wednesday, July 23, 2025 at the State Capitol where the public was invited to attend and participate. This audit was for the July 15, 2025 Special Primary Runoff for the Democratic Party District 3 Public Service Commission.
Stephens County elections personnel were notified the afternoon of Wednesday, July 23, 2025 and advised of their assigned ballot batches based upon the results of the dice roll. Overstreet said that two poll workers were assigned to the audit under the supervision of office staff. Each paper ballot was passed from one poll worker to the next and each worker read aloud the name of the candidate for whom the ballot had been cast. In total 50 ballots were audited and the count was ONE HUNDRED percent identical to the electronic vote totals previously recorded.
