EDITOR’S NOTE: This story was authored by local photographer Rob Stroul, who has photographed the past two Inkcarceration events for Richland Source.
MANSFIELD — Though I hate to admit it, I’m no longer a kid. I see things differently than I did decades ago.
However, I still love music, especially live music … and capturing it on film. Oops, circuitry.
But something I appreciate now more than ever is peace and happiness. Can’t buy either. Yet I did find it at Inkcarceration ’25. No politics, war, finger pointing or JUDGEMENT.
It seems judging others is now “America’s Pastime.” Sorry Baseball, you’re out!
Right off the top … every tattoo has a story. Just ask anyone who has one. More ink, more stories. A common theme at ink and no judgement.
Sure the music was loud and rowdy. But the response was smiles, waving hands and a little Mosh Pit action.
No ugliness. Thank you!
The event Security in both blue and yellow could be seen everywhere.
Mansfield’s “finest” weren’t too far away and visible. Event medics were busy with minor heat and dehydration issues, as would be expected. All wearing smiles. Hmm, that seems to be a running theme.
“Ink” is an opportunity for a break, a holiday, a vacation. Leave your problems at the gate.
Just show up, bring a credit/debit card, get some hydration (and I recommend the Island Noodles), find “your spot” and relax.
I came across two women collecting signatures on a guitar. They were from “Life By Music” (www.lifebymusic.com). They auction off signed guitar(s).
“Our goal is to put guitars/music into the hands of children,” one of them said.
I said I’d do what I could/promote.
You’ll be surprised by how many people will ask you if they’ll see you again next year.
That’s my kind of getaway, even for a photographer. “See you next year!”
